counting how many times a record occurred

i am trying to create a report to where i can get a total of how many times a record occured. ex year 2002;total alarms 1500; 1400 occured 1 time; 90 occured 2 times; 10 occured 3 or more times. can someome give some tips?

if i get you right

one way is to group on that alarms and add a summary field to count the records.

iam guessing that 1500,1400 90 are the alarm names or something you can group on.

can you explain in more detail.

If you are trying to see the no.of times it occured then have a count based on the no.of times:

group on the record and place a summary field to count the no.
then have a running total to count based on the record count.

I didn't test it .just my thought.

What is the field that distinguishes the different types of alarms? I'm assuming that the 1400, 90, and 10 are already summaries--is that correct?

Please also identify your CR version--you should always do this.
