I'm trying to write a formula that will total up how many times each different item appears on a report. Lets say I have a data field that is two characters long and has the items "MU", "PU", and "LU" in it. How would I got about writing a formula that would count each time each one appeared and total it for each seperate item?

I would suggest using a running total for each of the conditions/outcomes

Summary type being a Count.

Use a formula to evalutate.
{field}="MU"
