I would like to write a routine that will find a certain attribute value. For example; a block for a furniture tag would be named "furn tag" I would like to select a block and count the number of times the attribute data occurs in each instance of that block. for example;"chair 1". this would be the edited attribute value and not the attribute tag itself. I am currently using ACAD 2002.

Can a block have multiple instances of the same value? So you might want a report like:

xxx "furn Tag" blocks found
yyy blocks contain "Chair 1"
zzz total occurrences of "Chair 1"
