I followed the instruction of the Front Page 98 to create a counter on my webpage. However, when I open the page in the Netscape to test it, it shows {HIT Counter} and no number. Please help. Thanks.

How can I define a counter by basic HTML,
which is not visible for visitors ?

basic HTML can not remember who has visited the site. Yo're going to have to find a free one, or create one with perl, php, asp or something else. jared@aauser.com

Your web host should realy have a bunch for you to choose from. Look for them where you find your cgi's.
