Counter with just SSI, no perl etc

Hi, is there a way to create a page counter with just SSI. I take care of a non-profit website and the hosts only allow SSI, nothing else, or am I hoping for too much?

SSI will not help you to write a counter - you need to be able to do file or database manipulation for that. If you can do neither, then you're out of luck.

Change hosts, that's ridiculous. There's plenty of cheap hosting out there that won't place such limitations on you.

Yeah but it's free, they host for a whole lot of non-profit orgs, I'm nagging them and might hear of a better set up today
