Count the # of E-mail Address

I'm attempting to perform a count on the number of e-mail address that are in a particular field. However, prior to counting the e-mail address i would like to have Crystal check the syntax of the e-mail address. If the syntax is incorrect, i would like to omit it from the count.

Any ideas?

Insert a running total. For the Evaluate option, click 'Use a Formula' and then click the conditional x-2 button. In the formula editor, enter the code to check the syntax. This will count only those emails that evaluate to true.
