Count spaces and then delete the ending...

I have text fields which I would like to be reduced for a transfer project into a new system.

I would like to be able to take the first nine characters, spaces or misc sybols from the field and then delete the the resulting characters, spaces or misc sybols at the end for each record.

Does anyone have a simple module or query method to do this?

Use the LEFT function in your query:
left (YourFieldName,9)
