Count non 0 values

On a speadsheet I have a row of say thirty numbers which I want to count numbers not equal to 0. Using count I can only count those including zero, I use count(b1:Z1).

what should i sue?

I am on Excel 2003

=countif(E10:E17,"<>0")

includes negative numbers
