I'm trying summarize data in a crosstab. I don't want to count item#1 if it was received after the date of item#2.

For example:
If item#1's date is less than item#2's date,then I don't count want to count item#2.

Item#1 3/15/03 < Item#2 5/15/03 count
Item#1 6/15/03 < Item#2 5/15/03 don't count
Item#1 3/15/03 < Item#2 3/25/03 count
My results should display 2 items:

I thought I might use a formula
if ({item#1.date})<({item#2.date})then count({item#1}) else count=0

I think my logic is wrong. Please help. Thanks

are item #1 and item# 2 on separate records of the database, or the same record?

Yes. Item.date is in one table and the item.item is in another table.
