Count Distinct Records

I am having trouble counting distinct records in CR 8.5
I have 3 groups: Gr1 - Physicians, Gr2 - Month, Gr3 - Patient type. The table I have to work with is line item patient charges therefore, many daily records per patient.

I have a stacked bar chart in Gr1 footer displaying number of distinct Patients in each month (stacked by patient type). Thread149-1002668's link: explains that I need to create a formula for each patient type so the chart colors(stacked) representing patient type are consistant. Built in distinct counting works ok EXCEPT the colors consistancy problem therefore my dilemma.

How do I accomplish this one?
