count directories

I can't figure out how to count directories.

EX: I need to know how many directories(not files) there are in /data/

any help would be great.

Look at the example on this page:

http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.opendir.php

It shows you how to open the directory and list the contents. ALl you need to tweak is to keep count of how many files are of the desired type.

Alternatively you can use glob() with the optional switch GLOB_ONLYDIR - just make sure your PHP is > 4.3.0
