Count check boxes

Can't remember and can't work out how to run a query that will count no. of check boxes ticked.
Am doing a simple database where there are a no. of possibilities, each person can select several.
I then want to run a report from a query that can tell how many people were involved and how many/who ticked A, B, C and/or D.
The “who” is not necessary, tho it would be nice, but I can’t get a count on the check boxes and that’s a drama.
Any ideas?
Also I obviously need some access revision any good sites?

Do you want a combined total of all the question possibilities or do you want a count of A and a count of B etc?
