I'm trying to create a column, that is populated with "Yes" if the cell background color for a different column is "Yellow". So in other words if:

Format Cell Color A1 = Yellow, Then A2 = "Yes"

Is there any way at all I can do this in MS Excel?

Thanks in advance for any help.

only using VBA code

If you want to go down that route, please post in the VBA forum: Forum707

Rgds, Geoff

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.

Please read FAQ222-2244 before you ask a question

I have to ask. Did you even do a search on the topic?

If, and only if, the cell colouring criteria can be replicated within a formula, then it may be possible without VBA, however, you would usually be limited to 3 colours, or 4 maybe. (Even 5 at a push depending on data, and even then only achieved by using custom number formats).
