hi there,

i just finished configuring apache server(under nt4) and have it up and running.. i'm sure that i've entered the right ip address for apache, i checked my ip using ping -a commands.. i was able to access to my webpage, inside the local network. when i try to access my webserver outside the network(i.e. from home, not from work), i always get the 500 error message.. it seems to me that there are somethings blocked my apache server from being able to be accessed outside the local network, but i couldn't figure what causes it.. can someone give me some advise on how to fix the problem? thx in advance.

I don't know if you're workplace is as big on security or anything, but if you have to access the internet through a proxy server at work, it's likely you're behind a firewall. If that's true then they might block some or all access from the outside world. It's possible that they prevent your computer at work from being accessed through port 80 or something.

Hi,
Hmm... I'd like to offer another angle to this.

You mentioned that you were able to access it internally.
Are you using a Private IP addressing scheme? 10.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x etc?
Do you have an external or public IP address for your machine?
Otherwise, you will not be able to access your web server via the Internet since there will be a addressing issue.
