Hi,
COuld any body suggest me a good book for a beginner in TCL/TK? So that I could learn and start using the same?
Thanks,
Regards,
sas

Well, there's Brent Welch's "Practical Programming in Tcl and Tk", but I'm told the new edition is due out soon so I'd wait for that. I read the first edition before I started any scripting and found it very useful.

Alternatively, or additionally, look at the scripts that come with the installation demos. They do a lot of stuff and you can usually find how to do what you want by lifting a piece of one or more of those.

Good luck.

Once you get past the basics (which shouldn't be too hard; Welch's book seems to be the bible), try "Effective Tcl/Tk Programming: Writing better programs with Tcl and Tk" by Mark Harrison & Mike McLennan. It explains-away those simple nagging questions you might not find with great detail anywhere else. It's not a reference book, but it covers topics very thoroughly, with lots of coding examples.
The chapters on "Packing,gridiing.." and "Handling Events" will help you immediately at the beginner stages, while other chapters like "Interacting with other programs" will be invaluable later on ... trust me.

For a step-by-step introduction to Tcl/Tk, including quizes and exercises, I like Teach Yourself Tcl/Tk in 24 Hours, by Venkat VSS Sastry and Lakshmi Sastry. (Sams Publishing, 2000. ISBN: 0-672-31749-4.) Unfortunately, it appears as though the publisher has allowed this title to go out of print. You might be able to pick it up used, though.
