Recently, we upgraded customer from a small nortel sysem to a PACS R8. The customer was not happy because they could hear their CB traffic coming over two of their extensions loud and clear.
We pulled in new Cat 5e wire to no avail. We also installed filters (3-35 Mhz range), that we ordered from Sandman and installed them on both the handsets and mounting cords on the two extensions having this problem; still no joy. Customer stated that they did not have this problem with their nortel system.
Finally out of frustration, we recalled way back when...the first Merlin systems that recommeneded encasing the entire control unit with chicken wire and grounding it to clear transient radio interference. (What a way to impress customers with their new system...anyway I digress).
Capitalizing on this idea, we also recalled how the Merlin II power supplies had a copper foil to prevent induction of noise in the system. We couldn't find anyone who manufactured such a foil, so we stuck some aluminum foil with an adhesive to hold the foil to the R8 processor and grounded it. Voila! Great success! The CB traffic was knocked down to barely a whisper. Result, customer was happy with the result and we got paid for our trouble. Anyone have a similar experience? How did you solve the problem? Thank you in advance.
