Could use some API help.

I am using the webbrowser control and pulling up a webpage. What I would like to do is get the values from the selection boxes on the page that is coming up. I think the web page is protected so the only way to get the values is by using an API command or so I am told. I have never used API's before and am pretty new to programming. Could anyone please help me with the coding on this. Thanks in advance.
