Hi all,

I am getting the following prob.:
Some clients can't resolve the server name i.e when I click on update in the Firewall Client software for the server name it tells me that it can't find the ISA server. When I put the IP and click on update now, it says sucessfully updated. Just after that it changed the IP into the netbios name and clicking again on the update button, it tells me again that it can't find it. I can't ping the netbios name but only the server IP from those clients. If I choose 'use a proxy server and mention the IP of the ISA server in IE, I can successfully go on the Net. All these clients are using win95. Other clients can successfully use the firewall client software to resolve the server name. If I use the Ips of the clients that are not able to resolve the Netbios name, on the ones that can, I can't reproduce the error. These clients are win98/2kpro machines.

What am I doing wrong?

By the way I don't have any DNS/WINS server.

Regards,

This is not an ISA issue, you may be more succesful posting in another forum.

What protocols are running on your client machines? ________________________________________

Since you're not running DNS/WINS, you may need to create a host file (text file with no extension), listing important servers and IP addresses. Then, copy this file to all your workstation machines that are having this problem. Win95 is not as intuitive as the later OS's as far as reckognizing other machines on a network. You can look up more info on host files in windows help...

Your saying that I can just include a line in the "hosts" file that says:
servername serverip

and everything will be OK!
