Could not open the document because of a disk error

Hi!

I have this problem that when trying to open some files in photoshop 5.5 on a windows 2000 professional machine it gives the following error:

Could not open the document because of a disk error!

The strange part is that some psd files open with no problems others however give the error message.
Logged on as a power user. (With administrative privileges everything works just fine).
PSD privileges are set full control for everyone.

I know this is more of a windows privileges question but maybe sombody has the answer. Thanks.

It could be you have a problem on your disk that is effecting some .psd files.

Can you run chkdsk or scandisk to test for and repair any disk damage.

Did you move the damaged files from a different volume?
