I'd like to rebuild (in transact SQL) an Impromptu solution that was build by one of our suppliers. Therefore, i studied the existing impromptu solution wich consists of a few reports and a macro.

One of the reports contains a variable called 'year'. When the report is started, it show a dialog box that asks for proper input. The variabele influences the shown results (a query on a large table with dates) in the report but i can't figure out where the variable is used.

I examined the catalogue but can't find any where-like clause. The values don't show any restrictions and there's no filter defined. It puzzles me a lot!

Who can tell where i got to look? I'll be very grateful if anyone can help!

There are several places you can look.

On the Filter tab, make sure you check the drop-down box that says Detail, change to Summary, as it may be a summary filter.

The designer may have directly modified the SQL, in that instance, you'll need to actually look at the SQL to find the reference.

The designer may also have built a macro with a dialog box, and is filtering the report from the macro.

If you're only concerned with how it is being filtered, open the report, run it, and save it as an IQD. The where clause should show in the SQL in the IQD file.

I am what I am based on the decisions I have made.

Thanks, DoubleD. I just overlooked the summary filter. I feel a bit stupid now ))-:
