Hi there, I have a new computer with Windows 7 Pro operating system in my work place, The server is Novell 4x Server and I've been looking for a way to use Novell Client software from Windows 7 and I've read about Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP Mode. I have installed Windows XP Mode on the new computer and installed "OES SP2 Novell Client 4.91 SP4 for Windows" that I thought will work.

Is there anybody here who can help me? or anybody who have the same experience in this kind of problem.

Other wise, I really have no other choice than reformating and install Windows XP to this computer. But the issue is, Windows XP is not available in the market already unless I downgrade from Windows 7 to XP. But do I have to do this again and again all the time??

PLEASE I NEED HELP.... :)

Ok, I have solved this problem myself. And I want to share the solution. It might helpful for somebody else in the future,

1. Run the Windows XP Mode
2. Click on "Tools" at the top menu and select "Settings"
3. Click on "Networking" and change the "Adapater 1" value appropriately. (I prefer to use the actual and existing network adapter)
3. Click "OK" and restart the Windows XP Mode.

But unfortunately I still have another problem. I get a message saying "You are attempting to connect back to your own computer." (Refer to the previous picture - 3rd one), when I try to logon and I still cannot get in.

Anybody here have experience using Windows XP Mode???

Regards,
Rocky

Hi Rock4J

Congrats on sorting your problem.

Sorry I didn't see your post sooner as I have indeed gone thru exactly the same thing (except for the computer name bit) and my solution was the same as yours.

I don't really understand why XP mode doesn't just default to the actual adapter in the first place, but so it goes.

Running Netware client in XP mode has worked very well for me because not only does it provide legacy connectivity, it allow me to run 16 bit apps residing in the Novell environment seamlessly under 64 bit Win 7.

Now I'm just worried MS will decide to disable XP mode after support ends next April.
