Hi All,
I have the following problem . I have to have impromptu reports centrally and access the reports through WAN. Could this configuration be done ? If not then what's the way around.
Thanks in Advance

WAN access really depends upon your bandwidth. I'm assuming the Impromptu executables are installed locally for the 'remote' users. The real issue is the speed of data retrieval from your database relative to available bandwidth. If the reports are not returning LARGE datasets, and the report filters can make use of the table indices, direct remote access may give acceptable results. Otherwise you may want to look at using local hotfiles of the most frequently used fact tables for the reports, and refresh them during the night hours.

If the REPORTS (rather than the executables) need to be central, this should not be an issue if you keep embedded graphics out of the reports and keep them relatively small in size. Most of my reports are between 75 and 200k, so with modest WAN bandwidth the size should not be a major problem in user-perceived delay.

Regards,

Dave Griffin
