All,

I have a user Pc that this morning displayed the following information and loaded a new profile.

RegLoadKey failed with error 1009 for C:\WINNT\Profiles\ahernb\ntuser.dat

I have followed the Tech-net instructions for renaming the new one and attempting to get the old one to work. However, it seems that the old one is definately corrupted. Is there any way to recover this corruption.

If not, can you let me know if it is ok to copy settings to the new profile such as

C:\WINNT\Profiles\ahernb\favourites
Application Data
Office

This user is one of our accountants so his personal Excel settings are huge and to have to reset these would be a nightmare.

Any ideas

Thanks

Yes its ok to copy folders from old to new profile (not sure if you wouldn't be better importing mail, but you can try both if necessary) - but not sure where excel settings are stored (eg, probably in ntuser.dat?)
