Anyone seen corruption with a DN as opposed to a port?

Buttons going blank (do nothing when pressed) but Time & Date always present, you would think its the phones motherboard but I replaced the set and changed the port and still same issue.
Unplugging set then plug back in helps for a very short time.

When I changed the port I turned Set Relocate Off , moved cross-connect to an available port, changed DN's, copied old port to new port, changed names.

Hello Curly

Has the wiring or socket been changed?. Other than that there isn't much else to look at. Perhaps assign a new DN, then reboot the switch so that it clears any value that is stuck in Memory and also check that extension relocation is turned off.

Here is something I have had limited success with. Let's say you are using a 7316, change the phone to a 7208 or 7100, wait till it boots up. Plug your 7316 back in, this is supposed to reset the port template. What software, system and set are you dealing with?

Today swapped station cable/jack and same issue.

Reboot next.

Did you try phoneguy427's solution? I've done that before to clear a stuck DN.

Yes

So far:
New set
New line cord
New port
New cable (existing)
New jack (existing)
Reset Port with 08

Doing Firebirds suggestions before the scheduled reboot Monday morning.

Try connecting the phone directly on the block. If nothing else, it'll take wiring & jack off your list of possibilities...

Already tried that, however the problem did not occur for me.

Hi Curlcord

What type of set are you using?
I had a bunch of new Avaya labled T7316e sets purchased that all had the same mac address.
Caused the same type of problem you have.
The only way I found out about the problem, was by plugging these sets into my Emetrotel UCX which shows mac address.
Supplier thought I was nuts!!

MAC address on a digital set???

To identify phones, the UCx system uses the MAC address of IP phones and the unique ID of digital phones. In the management GUI, the value is shown in a field with the label "MAC Address".

If digital phones are manufactured by Avaya with the same unique ID (which would be no longer unique), using the phones on a Norstar or BCM system with Set Relocation would likely confuse the core telephony software on the switch.

For Curly, to determine if the unique (non-unique) phone ID is his problem, he could try to reboot the switch with only the one digital set that is showing the problem connected. If the phone works fine by itself and stops working when the other phones get connected, there could be another phone with the same unique ID.

Trying to use the system with the Ser Relocation feature disabled could in theory help. (at least on UCx, multiple phones with the same ID work with Set Relocation disabled).

As Marv has stated, M.A.C Address on a wired Norstar digital phone?. I didn't think that this was the case as I thought it only applied to IP sets?.

Digital phones have 40 bit unique IDs (or at least are supposed to have them), IP phones have MAC addresses.

Sorry been sidelined with a back injury, it's an M7310 but the reboot Monday solved the issue.
Thanks

engenius it's not a true mac address but the ucx uses it as one to assign the phones. ucxguy explained it the best and yes I've seen some that were the same and did act bad if connected to the same system.
