I am having a problem with some groupwise users in that sometimes when they put more than one address in the to or CC boxes separated by a comma, the addresses get muddled up.

E.g They put in fred@flintstone.co.uk, barney@rubble.com
the GW changes it to fred@rubble.com, barney@flintstone.co.uk, so the email bounces back.

Anyone know why this is and how I can stop it happening. Its an intermittent problem...

Thanks all,
Emily

What version of GroupWise (and SP level) are you running? Also, is there attachments being sent when this happens?

Hi FarOut
Ooops, I should have mentioned that in my first posting shouldn't I?
GroupWise 6.5 SP2
I'm not sure abut attachments, but I think that yes, most likely there are attachments.
Cheers,
Emily

Well if it had been 5.5.x I might have had an answer. But since it's not here are a couple more questions for you. When does the Internet Addresses domain names get changed? Do the Addresses look good before you click on Send?

When I have had problems with a user and any To: address (internal or external) causing problems w/v6.5.x, the first thing I do is delete their Frequent Contacts entries. Let me know what you find out.

Cheers for that FarOut

I only get to hear about it after it happens, but it looks like everything is fine until you hit send, then the corrupted addresses get into their Freq Contacts and cause havoc.

I have suggested that they don't use their Frequent Contacts Addressbook in the name completion search thingy, but that requires them sorting out their personal addressbook (very boring and time consuming for them, but much safer!)

I'm not sure whether this problem is human error or not, so I will continue to monitor it and post any outcome here.

Thanks again.

It has just occurred to me that as it has happened to two different users - in exactly the same way, it is unlikely to be human error.

Emily,
If you want to test the theory of the Frequent Contacts being the culprit, you could export their Frequent Contacts into another address book. Then if you had to you could import them back in to the Frequent Contacts @ any time. Just a thought.
