Corrupted XLS & DOC attachments

I'vw noticed that many Excel and Word attachments become corrupted once the enter our Domino mail server (v. 5.0.1).

I've been to IBM/Lotus' tech support and they're "Unable to replicate the problem."

I know that it has something to do with the sender using Outlook/Outlook Express' native RTF format, but I can't ask everyone else to change.

Before I buy the upgrades (or go to Exchange) has anyone figured this out and/or come up with a solution?
