Hi,
I am currently developing a database for our test department to enter and track bugs. They are currently testing it and twice now it has become unusable. They said it was working OK but when they tried to log in again after logging out they couldn't.
When I tried to log in I got a message that the workgroup file had become corrupted - it said this could have happened because someone quit access unexpectedly. Has this happened to anyone else? Are there any known issues about workgroup files becoming corrupted?
Please help.

Cheers,
Ewen.

A Workgroup file is an Access database in exactly the same way as an MDB is and as such can be repaired in the same way.

If you have lots of users accessing the system give them all their own copy of the MDW file. This may help (at least it will only affect the user that is causing the corruption). If the problem continues it will also allow you to identify which user is causing it.

HTH,

Ed Metcalfe.

thanks Ed, I'll give that a try. Incidently how to I go about repairing a corrupted database?

cheers,
Ewen.

Open Access without opening a database.

Tools > Database Utilities > Compact and Repair Database...
