Hi,

I have 2 users that have been working on the same Word (2000) document, at separate. The document is saved on our network, so both have access to it.

During the course of working on this document, it became corrupted - just a small part of the document, with some wing dings type text and several page breaks.

I've managed to restore the last clean version of the document from our backup tapes.

I've also scanned both PCs for viruses, both were clean.

My question is...how can I prevent (or reduce the likelihood) of this re-occuring. Is there a possibility that the recovered document may corrupt again?

Any questions I can ask the users that may have caused the corruption in the first. Perhaps it could be related to a computer crash, or network failure at the time the document was open?

Any thoughts/pearls or wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

Did they leave the document open and walk away from their desk for a period of time?

Do they have different types or postscript printers, or maybe one of them has Adobe Type Manager loaded?

How about the default font. Do they have separate ones?

Do you have Dfs replication and File Replication service (FRS) synchronization to help keep data available to users, even if a server or disk drive fails or a shared folder or file becomes corrupted?

Does your server remirror alot?

Is Word loaded on their workstations or over the network?
Maybe the Normal.dot (or whatever default template is being used to create new documents) is corrupt, or perhaps macro-virused.
