Hello Sir,

I am taking Novell Netware 5.0 backup from
Windows 2000 Server. I am using pure TCP/IP
protocol and using Novell Client version
4.80.20000717 and NSS.

The tape drive i am using is HP SureStore DAT40.

The problem I am facing is, while i am restoring
the data from the DAT media, it is restoring
properly with the original file size. But, I
can't open the file. Suppose I tried to open the
Excel file, the error message is

"The File is not a recognizable format"

Please help.

It is urgent

Regards

How old is the tape drive? Have you tested the drive in the past and been able to read the restored file? I have seen a number of instances where the tape drive is damaged and write corrupt data on the tape, no one was able to tell until they needed to do a restore.
