Hi,
I have recently set up spamassassin to run with my sendmail and procmail. Since then, I have had 2 different times where users have had corrupted mail files not allowing them to download their mail.

The corruption was simply the "F" was left off the "From: user@wherever.com" at the very beginning of the message. I have been able to fix the corruption by just adding the 'F' in.

What I would like to know is if this is something others have experienced?

Does it sould like an issue of the server being bogged down momentarily?

Is it something that others have experienced using spam prevention tools?

Thanks for the help!

I use spam assassin as well. Have you noticed a procmail.core (large file) in your /var/spool directory? Check the logs and see if you can see too many (MaxClients) error alert and an accept message. I really haven't had problems with the corrupted mail part, but I have had the server get confused since installing spamassassin and procmail.

I did not see a procmail.core file in my /var/spool. There were no errors for max clients.

I now have an additional problem. I have had 3 instances where users were unable to send off of the server. They could send to local users but not to users off of the server. The error message received is:
reject=550 5.7.1 <bla@bla.com>... Relaying denied

But there should not be an error.

To solve, I rebooted and about 10 minutes after rebooting, the system returns to normal. I have not seen an signs of malicious abuse of the sendmail.

Does this symtem shed any light on my issue? I have recently patched my system with the most recent sendmail.

Thanks again!
