After a power failure one of my dbf files is corrupted and I can't open it. It says: "not a dbase database" Can anyone help or know of a program that I can get that repairs the header on a dbase III file?

Well, never a best way that have a BACKUP of the file(s). But, in the DOS days, there was a utility inclouded in the "Norton Utilities", that was called "dbfix", or something like that. I've used it in that days, and it worked fine.
Good luck.

You might try a program call dSalvage. It was invaluable to me over the years. If you need it let me know.

BlueCorsa,
Have you used DSalvage to fix FlexFile .DBV files? I have a bunch of '32' errors (pointer is unknown type) and '41' errors (invalid DBF memo-field) -- both issued from RETRIEVE.
Thanks for any info.

Bertha,
No I have only used the program for the standard dbf and dbt files. Sorry, I don't have any experience with Flexfile but I do with the SixDrivers.

fbizzell: I still use FileFix sometimes to repair that kind of errors in dbf´s.

Bertha: To fix the dbv you must write a routine to "pack" the VLF container, if you wish I can send to you the one I write, my email is pablormc@yahoo.com
