G'day,

I used the loody free version of AVg Anti Virus, it said that my Windows\System\WSOCK32/DLL file was infected. I have taken the time to reads every word on that site, But I cannot find a way to remove/replace the infected file. Wouls someone please be kind enough to tell me how to remove/replace this file? I thought even the free version of AVG Healed/removed Virus. Is there such a program for free?

Cheers .......

As presumeably this file is loaded with Windows, I'd try to extract the original from the 98 cabfiles to replace it Start > Run > sfc, I think - then choose the file. You'll need to check Windows Update afterwards, I'm sure there were a few patches/upgrades for Winsock.

F-prot for DOS is a good back-up A/V for Windows 9x, boot to a command prompt and scan from there, that may fix it - your Winsock may still need to be repaired afterwards though.
