On every reboot the System event log file will become corrupted.

As per Microsoft instructions I have cleared the log which seems to clear it and allows it to start receiving log events again, but after a reboot it becomes corrupted again.

Microsoft's other instructions are to install the latest service pack, so I reloaded SP1 just for fun.

I have also booted to an alternate Windows (XPE) and deleted the sysevent.evt file which it recreated, but on reboot it is also corrupt.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
