i just started getting an error message about a corrupt file when using navigator. i only use it when checking my output. c:\program~1\common~1\mozzila.org\gre\etc.
then tells me to run chkdsk which i did and still get it. this right forum for question?ty.
i deleted netscape. that makes me ask this. i had netscape 7.1 on my machine just to check how my pages looked with netscape. i use ie. but if i am going to be checking for appearance in other browsers, should i have an older version? what i mean is by checking with netscape 7.1, i may get results that earlier versions won't show.
i will follow your advice for mozilla. should i use the latest version(unless you can only download the latest)?
ty.
That question is really just a matter of personal preference. Some people don't even test in anything other than IE. So, you're already one step ahead of them. Netscape is currently based on Mozilla, so for testing purposes you can use Mozilla. If you'd like to test in older versions, then that's certainly your prerogative. The more testing the do, the more thorough you'll be. But at some point it just becomes silly as the majority of
The last two have very small penetration these days, so if you'd like to substitute one of them (opera) with IE 5.5, that might be a good idea too. IE has a lot of what Microsoft believes to be helpful features that will "correct" poorly written code. As a result, I also recommend writing all pages to work properly in Mozilla. More times than not (except when dealing with some CSS), if your pages look good in Mozilla then they'll look good in IE.
Bottom line: It's really just personal preference.
At any rate, good luck.

i would like to try the mozilla. i went to the site. not sure whether to get just browser or entire package with email tool. oe isn't good for multiple email identities. any advice. ty.
I use the browser only. If you don't need the email client, then don't download/install it. I've never used the Mozilla email client so I can't advise you on it. If you want, try it out and see if you like it. You can always uninstall it later.
When installing Mozilla, be sure to install the Javascript debugger. Mozilla also has a helpful DOM inspector at "Tools->Web Development->DOM Inspector".
Good luck (and thanks for the /art/star.gif).
