corrupt file replace XP Home

Cannot access "Program Campatibility Wizard" nor "Help and Suport" ..clicking on them produces negative results, can these files be recovered/replaced with a restore...

Fisrt open a command prompt and type: sfc /scannow

You'll need to have your xp cd in the drive.

Thank you for the comment, however, I do not have a XP cd,, computer came preloaded (HP)..

I have and/or did run "sfc scannow" and it proceeds to run thru it's whole deal and then quietly disappears...so far I have tried it twice maybe I will give it a go one more time and watch it more closely...
