How do I do a complete check of my databases (for Exchange 5.5) ? My anti virus won’t start… When I called Symantec they said that the database for exchange probably was corrupt. Can anyone give me step by step instructions on the use of isiniteg ? We can still send and receive mail but it start to creep after a few days of use. After the server is restarted it works fine? Then it starts all over again slows down to a craw. Any suggestions would be appreciated

I pretty much have the same question - has anyone out there ever used isinteg or eseutil?

I have O'Reilly Managing MS Exchange server which says that eseutil is not a *good* idea...

here is syntax for isinteg:

isinteg [-pri] [-pub] [-fix] [-L [logfile]] [-detailed]
 [-verbose] [-test {alltests ¦ testName} ] [-dump]
 [-[patch]

I'd like to know if anyone has had any luck, cautions, etc with this. I'm thinking I could do a all tests and report details to a log file. Any help is appreciated...

The only time we use eseutil is to defragment our databases. We've recently moved a lot of users between servers, and we've changed some of our mail retention policies. We've started running eseutil /d /ispriv on a monthly basis, and we recover about 1.5 GB every time we run it.
Mike Hillwig
mike@hypermike.com
<a href= done more R5 deployments than I care to think about.

I have ran both eseutil and isinteg with success. I recovered lots of disk space with the 1st and repaired my db's with the second. Be prepared to take some time with them as they take time to run. I copied my DBS just in case. MS recomends deleting some of the files when reconciling the DBS. Look it up, for further info.
I also recommend running the Exchange Optimizer.

Good Luck
