Corp. Ed 8.1 - Unable to install due to previous NAV 2002

Has anyone had the pleasure of trying to install Corporate Edition over a previous/stand alone Nav 2002? I had no trouble installling on CE 8.1 on 6 other XP-Pro Dells. I tried to uninstall to no avail and tried running the NAV2003 removal tool. Also found a document where you can delete the account(registry) on the server..
when I reinstall it acts like it installing ok but I get nothing. Suspect this pc might have a virus. Any suggestions appreciated..
