Corel Photo Paint 9 & 11 Windows 11

In both programs, Corel Photo Paint 9 & 11, the line function does not work properly. When executed a slanted line appears and can be rotated with no control of the end point. I can no longer click at a point of origin and drag the line to a desired final location. I have pressed F8 when loading and uninstalled and reinstalled the programs several times with the same result. I must have inadvertently switched something but have no idea of how to get the original function back.
Any help greatly appreciated.
