I have run into a problem installing Corel Draw 9 on an NT workstation. I believe at one time this software was installed on this particular machine, however the user complained they could no longer use the program. When I try to start the program, the beginning screen starts....getting to "almost done". During this time, the CPU is running the corel exe at 100%. It hangs and stops responding. Eventually the program will completely end. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and nothing has changed. Any suggestions would br greatly appreciated.

Try searching the registry for any Corel Keys??? After uninstalling with add/remove programs, delete any entries you find pertaining to Corel.

Just a thought

Also: You have to delete the Corel folder in your WINDOWS directory, as it remembers all the previous installations and uninstallations and adjusts any new attempts to install/re-install according to those files.
Hope this helped, it worked for me...

Also, delete any windows temp files after doing what pjfarr recommended. ia m running CorelDRAW8 on NT with no problem whatsoever.

How many fonts do you have on your system? I have seen bad fonts or too many fonts cause this sort of a problem. I recommend that you have no more than 100 or so active, installed fonts at any time. Corel has Bitstream Font Navigator on the disk, if you are not using it, I highly recommned you do so. It lets you uninstall excess fonts, and have easy access to install the ones you need without bogging down your system with 1000 or more fonts...

hope this helps When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Hey viol8ion...

You seem to know a lot about CorelDRAW. Are you as knowledgeable in Corel WordPerfect as well? If so, maybe you can check out my post in that forum if you get a chance:

Let me know if you can figure that one out...I'm stumped.

PJ,

I left my standard reply to that thread. nope, not really an expert with WP or even CorelDRAW, but have lots of experience troubleshooting problems on PCs. For every bizarre problem, especially the ones that just "happen", I always recommend scandisk/defrag, remove temp files, reboot.. and then if that doesn't do the trick, total uninstall & reinstall... then start looking at PPDs and video drivers, fonts (poor quality or excessive TT fonts cause a lot of problems on windows systems).

It is amazing how many problems these steps fix. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
