Hello all, I am new to this forum. Been using CorelDraw 9 since it came out and recently moved to X3. I have come up against some major design flaws and would like to get a hold of the programmers and ring their necks!
First of all when I set up my 3 main dockers (object manager, view manager, and object properties) on the right side of my screen they will not stay correctly proportioned when I restart the program. I can save the workspace or add a new workspace all I want to no avail... when I restart the program the 'object manager' dominates the vertical space and the two other dockers are squished to their minimum height at the bottom. It may seem trivial but every time I go to work I need to reposition these dockers by dragging them to their correct size. Corel Draw 9 always remembered.
My next complaint is when I do a F9 preview the image is no longer centered on the screen. I have set up photoshop actions to use screen captures of the F9 full screen preview, and they no longer work since the images are not centered. What is Corel thinking? Why would anyone want the full screen preview not centered?
Next: When I set an outline width on my drawings I like to be exact. I usually dial in .216 to get the results I want on my printer. New and improved X3 gets leaves it as "Hairline" no matter how I try to enter .216. Hairline sounds much less exact to me! Is it a horse hair, baby hair?
Next: Why can't I have the "print preview" window expanded every time I go there? On Corel 9 it remebered that I like the flyout and always showed it to me when I hit the printer icon.
Next: Why do programmers move buttons when there is no improvement. On my 'Object Properties' docker on the top there used to be a "new layer" button. Now I have a new bar below the viewing window that has the new layer button and a trash button. I honestly see this as a waste of real estate, plus I have to retrain myself, plus the button now "moves" since it's placement depends on how long the Object Manager box is.
I like many of the improvements in X3, and I really don’t complain all the time, really!
The thing is if I put out a product that is a new version with these kind of flaws I would have them fixed immediately.
My customers would demand it.
So how do I get thru to Corel?
I'm hoping they read this forum. I'm also hoping that some of you reading have found workarounds.
Thanks for any input you have in advance,
Tom
