I'm not sure whether this is a Corel Draw problem or a windowsXP but I suspect that it's Corel Draw not handling the XP environment.

When in Corel Draw 8.0 and I'm about to print (which works OK), if I go into printer properties (from the print dialog box) I get a message along the lines of "Corel Draw has encountered a problem and needs to close" which it then duly does.

It, of course, offers to let Microsoft know about this but the information it does identify about the failure is as follows...
AppName: coreldrw.exe
AppVer: 8.369.0.0
ModName: user32.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.0
Offset: 0000e528

It doesn't show this problem under Win98 and it seems to fail whether it is a local or a network printer and whether it is the HP or the Epson.

Has anyone come across anything like this?

V8 is an early release compared to XP so it is no surprise that some things are not perfect, I do remember reading about a problem similar to this and that changes to printer settings should be made at windows level ie start - printers, then start draw and see if this works with your new settings.

v8 of Draw/Photopaint/Ventura - all were not written for the W2K/XP environment. What you need to do is to go to the Printer Properties from the Printers section in Control Panel - open up the printer properties there and make changes.

javabearSTL has given the same answer as mine but has worded it much better than I have.

Many thanks, this looks most helpful.

Did you ever get an answer to this question?

I have the same problem.

Seems to have something to do with Installing Fonts while Corel Draw is running. You didn't happen to modify Fonts, Did you?

I've not had a definitive answer to this... my client has moved on to bigger problems, though I can say that no fonts were modified as far as I know.
