I have imported EPS graphics into PageMaker and Freehand without any problems. In Corel however, I not getting the EPS image but rather a black box with words inside telling me the name of the program that created the EPS. What's going on here?

Also, when I do manage to import a two-color spot EPS, the colors show up nicely in the Separation window, but the BLACK part of the graphic appears on BOTH output pages.

Is Corel that sophisticated or do I still have a lot to learn? Thank you from grateful Kenny.

I suspect what you're looking at is the preview image from the eps but on this occassion there isn't one. This graphic would probably print ok to a postscript device, in this instance though import your eps using the postscript interpreted or the ai filter, either may work depending on the generating programm, it should come in and if vector will be editable although you may have to ungroup first.

There are two ways to import EPS files.

1) import using the PLACEABLE filter; i.e., use the EPS filter. This is when you are only going to PRINT the file to a POSTSCRIPT printer. So all you're going to see is a header file (if any) or just a bounding box that may say what kind of file it is showing the dimensions of the file. This will print the actual file ONLY if you print to a postscript printer, otherwise if you print to any other kind of printer, you'll just get the bounding box. This is normal and is as designed.

2) import using the PS, PRN, EPS - POSTSCRIPT INTERPRETED filter. This will bring in an editable version of the file. Be aware that if the original file had a transparent object in it, that object will have been converted into a bitmap since EPS files do not handle transparency.

If you use the Interpreted filter, you will probably want it to convert text to curves.

Thank you both ... the actual solution was to import using the PS, PRN, EPS Postcript Interpreted Filter. Thanks again. Grateful Kenny.
