In earlier versions you had to click on edge of an object to select it, which worked well for me. In CD12, objects are selected when I click anywhere inside them. Can I turn this feature off? The situation I could use this is when I have to select a large number of objects within one or more object and there is too many objects to use the "shift hold" to select them ant the outside object prevent simple drag selection.

Corel 12 selecting objects within objects

You need to deselect the 'Treat as Filled' option. It's located on the Property Bar (the one with your page size on it) which should be visiable when you have no objects selected.
If it's not there, right click the grey area along the top of your screen & tick the Property Bar box.
