Gents do you know if by default the cores of a CP PIV CS1K M Relese 5.5 will swap every night like the old cores?

The latest and greatest I beleive by default they don't swap but you can tell them to in your CFN open gate 'OVLY' MID SCPU Yep/Nope

Its debatable especially if you have CallCentre/Symposium to avoid ELAN Health issues

Cheers!!

It is not recommended nor necessary for the system to swap cores at midnight routines. At 24 hour operations it will temporarily interrupt call processing.

Also, just in case you miss a message that caused the core to swap, it is a good indication when you see that it has changed to look at the history file to see what preceeded the swap.

actually it is recommened IF the few minutes of down time can be tolorated, such as, a non-24-7 shop. If not swap yearly at least, quarterly good, monthly better, etc. I try to swap quarterly.

I think you will get varying opinions on this. I agree with seatech that it shouldn't be programmed to swap every night but I also agree with BigIndian that you should schedule swapping cores at regular intervals. As seatech says, it interrupts call processing and if you have CallPilot and/or CCM, the ELAN will bounce.

I will post the Geographical Redundency NTP for 5.5 on Monday, I ain't jack'n around with it on the Weekend, it's Late Muzzle Loader Deer season in K-tuck starting tomorrow.

supports telebub in full. Never switching is not recommended.

Midnight Switchovers
Because of the robustness of the new call processor architecture, the
need to perform CPU switchovers during midnight routines are no longer
required and have been removed from the software routine. With Call
Processor PII and Call Processor PIV, both CPUs are alive (although only
one is in call processing state).
It is still possible to have a daily switchover of the CPUs during the
midnight routine if so desired. The following steps are required to provision
this.

ATTENTION
IMPORTANT!
• If the customer can tolerate a service interruption of 6 to 10 seconds during
the daily diagnostic routines which are normally scheduled outside of
business hours (nominally “midnight”), and if the system is monitored daily or
in real time for critical alarms, then the daily scheduled switchover of active
CP side is recommended.
• If the customer cannot tolerate a daily scheduled diagnostic test, then a CP
side switchover test should be conducted during a scheduled maintenance
window at least once a year, and preferable monthly or quarterly.
• Never switching active CP side is not recommended, because a hardware
fault on the inactive standby CP side may not be discovered until the active
side experiences a hardware failure, a power failure, or a network connection
failure.
These recommendations apply to all dual processor machines.
