Copying Outlook files from home to work computers 2

I have just installed Outlook 98 as my email client and PIM. I used to use Sidekick as a calendar and contact manager. I would copy the data files from my computer at work to a zip disk, take them home, copy to my home computer, and vice versa. <br>

Now with Outlook, I see there is one file, Outlook.pst that contains all of my data. The documentation says I should be able to copy it to a zip and carry to work and back. I can't get it to work. I've tried it on both Win98 and WinNT 4.0 workstation. I get the same message each time: Cannot copy Outlook: the process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file.<br>

First thing to try is to make sure that you have no Microsoft Application running when you try to make the file copy. Somtimes even Word97 will have MAPI call that accesses the .PST.<br>

You could also add a personal folder [tools-services-add-personal address book].<br>
<br>
This would be a local file that you can drag and drop any messages you want to transfer. It will appear below your inbox and about public folders.<br>

Thanks very much. It looks like the culprit is WinFax controller. I exited that and am able to copy.
