I have a copy of Office 2003 on a desktop. I have now bought a laptop and would like to have Office 2003 on that too.

I have copied the Office11 folder in its entirety from the desktop to the laptop. However, when I click on winword.exe, for example, I get the error message 'The operating system is not presently configured to run this application'

Unfortunately, I cannot now find the original Office 2003 setupo CD-ROM (!)

Is there anyway I can get Office 2003 to run now on the laptop?

doesn't work like that/ During the installation of the application, the program is written EVERYWHERE on your machine. You can not just copy the installed folders......

You need the install disk.....

Depending on th terms of your licence you may or may not be able to do this anyway - but you certainly need the installation media to even try.

Enjoy,
Tony

With no serious, or personal criticism intended, I am amazed at how often there are posts that mention not being able to find original install CDs. These are very clearly marked as important, required, and should be kept safe.

Most licences say you are only supposed to have the software on one machine. You could uninstal it on one machine and install it on another.

It is quite easy to lose key disks: I misplaced the system software for one of my home machines. I've now got into the habit of putting everything in a single place.

Depending upon your particular copy of Office, you may be able to legally have it installed on one Desktop AND one Laptop. It depends upon the particular license - generally the retail versions allow this, but not versions such as the student editions.
