Hello,
I have a security problem with access if anyone could assist. I had created an access database and then secured it going through the steps of the security faq, creating the workgroup file and shortcut necessary to open the db with user/password login. I wanted to test a couple security issues so I copied/pasted the .mdb, .mdw, and shortcut to another folder on my laptop. I changed the name of the db by one character, and then changed the shortcut to incorporate the new name.
I am able to access the new db fine, but when I try to copy in new tables/queries (objects), it is giving me a message that it is unable to do so because someone else is accessing the db. I know that this is not possible because the new db is on my personal space on my laptop. I have also tried to open exclusive, but it gives me the same error.
Does anyone know why this may be happening? Could it have stored any info in the locked file when I copied the db to the new location? This is very perplexing to me.
Thanks in advance for any help on this.
Patrick
