aix/perts,

i just need info in copying a specific .profile[b/] file from my current dir to all the users under /home ( i think we got hundreds of users in our system.

thanks in-advance...

You could add the appropriate entries from your .profile to /etc/profile. This will be executed when any user logs into the system and before their /home/${LOGNAME}/.profile
is executed.

Or tell them to copy the file from a temp location themselves or else you'll lock their accounts. Just kidding... personally I'd go for the /etc/profile approach if that gets you what you want.

thanks guys...

i think i'll stick to the basic... have them all under /etc/profile

most likely, i will entertain number of users if they have problem/s with current config under /etc/profile

Standard polices are A Good Thing. We don't have nearly enough, and those exceptions are a killer. If you have The Power I'd recommend iron-fist enforcement from the get-go, and require business-justification for deviation from standard. It'll save you trouble in the long run, and might increase your headcount. =)
