What is the best way to copy an Excel chart into Word?
When I copied the Excel chart into Word by using the insert object option, the plot area colour turned grey when printing the graph from Word.

Try copying the chart while you are in Excel. Right click in you Word document where you want the chart to go and click Paste...I tried it and got it to work. Good Luck!

You can always copy the chart and then paste special as a bitmap or a device independent bitmap. This also allows you to get round the issue of the size being wrong as you can then resize at will, without worrying about things breaking.
