Hi,

Can anyone help please.

I have to copy and paste lots of text between one old Quark doc to a new Quark doc.

All the new, pasted text has to be converted to one of three different, new fonts. Is there any quick, easy way of doing this, rather than simply selecting each box, blocking the text and changing the font.

For example, can you marquee all text areas within a Quark file, the same way you can marquee boxes, etc.

thanks
Nic

I'm thinking of 2 ways here. You'll need to make 3 style sheets for the new fonts. First, you should select all the old Quark text and in your style sheets select "no style" Do this with a backup of course, so you don't lose the original document. Then bring the text into the new document and apply the correct style sheet. The new style sheet should contain any other attributes, such as size, indents, etc. but they should copy over ok if it is just a font change that is necessary. You can apply a quick key to each style sheet and zip along pretty fast applying the style sheet. If there are multiple paragraphs you can select them (highlight) them all and apply it at once,

Another idea to try—DON'T select all and apply "no Style" from the old document. Then when you copy and paste the text from the old documents, they will bring their old style sheet with them. Then you just need to change the font in the old style sheet and it will apply it to all with that style sheet. Of course it could be that you need to split this one into 3 different fonts and this won't work.

Do try these things first in a new plain document to see if they will work. Any further information will help if you can provide it in case this isn't helping.

Do you have three fonts in the old doc that correspond directly with the three replacement fonts in the new doc? For example, do you want everything that's Helvetica in the first document converted to Times? If so, there's a very easy way to do it:

Edit > Find / Change, and in the palette that appears, turn off "Ignore Attributes", and turn on "Layout". Uncheck all the attributes except "font" on both sides, and put the old and new font in the left and right column respectively. Click "Find Next", then "Change All".

That is correct. And if it is a case of 3 old fonts to 3 new fonts, you can also use UTILITIES >> USAGE >> FONTS to make font changes as well.
